Building for Bluesky: What It Takes to Add a New Platform to a Scheduling Tool

Planaro has been live for two months now, and every single scheduled post has gone live on time. The application runs smoothly — you can schedule your posts for the upcoming days or weeks and simply forget about it. That kind of reliability is exactly what I was aiming for when building this social media content management tool.

But development doesn’t stop here.

The next important step is integrating Planaro with more social media platforms beyond X and LinkedIn. While those two are well established with massive user bases, the next platform I’m adding is a bit different — it’s newer, but it’s showing steady adoption and consistent growth.

Why Bluesky?

After evaluating several platforms for the next integration, I decided to go with Bluesky. My reasoning comes down to balance: I want to support the established platforms, but I also want to give early adopters of emerging social media a place from which they can schedule their posts. Bluesky fits that spot perfectly.

There was also a practical advantage. Bluesky offered a faster integration path — there’s no lengthy approval process to deal with. Integrating a new platform using OAuth within a Laravel app turned out to be a straightforward implementation, which meant I could move quickly without getting stuck in bureaucratic queues.

Where things stand

The first posts from my development environment are already live on my Bluesky account, so the core integration is working. However, the public release of this feature will have to wait. The Bluesky integration will ship as part of Planaro version 2, alongside other new features — including analytics, which will allow users to see detailed statistics for their posts.

What’s next

I’ll continue focusing on the development of version 2 for Planaro while keeping up with running, working out, and staying connected with the tech community here in Bucharest. There’s a lot in the pipeline, and I’m looking forward to sharing more updates soon.
